About assessed products / product suitability assessments
Historically AsureQuality published voluntary product assessment reports (many prepared by Global Proficiency) that evaluated whether a product or ingredient was suitable for specific food-industry uses. These assessments supported suppliers and food businesses in choosing suitable products, but they are not regulatory approvals.
The registers and lists that used to be accessed from AsureQuality’s assessed products pages are now hosted through the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) registers and lists. If you’re checking a product’s assessed status, search MPI’s Food safety registers and lists. For regulatory or approvals questions contact MPI’s approvals team (approvals@mpi.govt.nz).
Product assessment reports originally prepared by Global Proficiency / AsureQuality may now be out of date. Check the assessment PDF for expiry/renewal clauses. If in doubt, contact the supplier, AsureQuality, or MPI via the approvals contact to confirm the current status.
