A passkey is a modern sign-in credential stored on a trusted device or credential provider. It can allow you to sign in without typing your account password.
Depending on your device, you may unlock the passkey using your fingerprint, face recognition or device PIN.
Do I have to create one?
No. Creating a passkey is optional for the LabConnect rollout.
Why would I use one?
A passkey can make future sign-ins faster and reduce the need to remember or type a password. It can also provide strong protection against common password-based attacks.
Will my passkey work on every device?
That depends on where the passkey is stored and how your devices are configured. Some passkeys can sync through an approved credential provider; others are tied to a particular device. Your organisation may also restrict passkey features.
If you regularly use several different computers, a mobile authenticator may still be the most flexible MFA method even if you also create a passkey.
Can I set up a passkey later?
The setup flow may allow you to skip or defer passkey creation. Follow the options displayed on screen. Passkey availability may vary according to your device and organisation policy.
