Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra security check when you sign in.
A password is something you know. MFA asks you to confirm your identity in another way as well - for example with an authenticator app, security key, fingerprint or face recognition.
Why is MFA being introduced?
Passwords can be guessed, reused or stolen. MFA makes it much harder for someone else to access your account using only your password.
Is MFA optional?
No. Setting up MFA is a mandatory part of the AsureQuality Identity Platform setup.
Will I have to do a second step every time I use LabConnect?
Not necessarily. The Identity Platform can remember a valid sign-in session on a device for a period of time, so you may not be asked to complete every sign-in step every time you open LabConnect. Exactly when you are prompted again depends on the security/session settings and your device.
Which MFA method should I use?
For most users we recommend a mobile authenticator app, subject to your organisation's IT policy. See Choosing your authentication method for the available options.
