Onion Smut survey registration
Onion Smut surveys are required for some Allium crops intended for export.
AsureQuality conducts these surveys for commercial growers as part of the Ministry for Primary Industries Onion Smut Free Programme.
The survey helps support export certification where importing country requirements include onion smut freedom or production site assurance.
When to register
All Allium crops for export to Australia, including Norfolk Island, must be registered by 15 October each season.
Garlic is treated differently for Australia and is excluded from this registration requirement.
If you are unsure whether your crop, production site, or intended export market requires Onion Smut registration, please contact us before submitting your application.
What you need to submit
You need to complete both forms:
- Application for Export Certification Field Survey
- Onion Smut Property Registration Sheet
The forms can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
The forms can be completed electronically or printed and filled out manually.
Information required
The application must include the required company, contact, production site, crop, and export market information.
For Onion Smut registrations, please include:
- production site identification
- GPS coordinates
- crop
- planting date

For Australia, please list all Allium crops within the recognised district, including export and non-export crops.
