Phthalates are compounds that may be added to plastic products to increase their flexibility and durability. They may pose a risk to health if contamination occurs during the processing or packaging of food products. AsureQuality offers testing for phthalate contamination enabling food producers to confirm the safety of their products.
Submitting samples for phthalate testing
A lot of packaging contains phthalates. To avoid contamination from the sampling container, we recommend that you avoid using the following items to collect / store samples for phthalate testing:
- Plastic containers - especially soft plastics
- Tin cans – the lining inside the can may contain phthalates
Use of these items could lead to an inaccurate / high reading of phthalates in the results of our laboratory analysis.
